ODIN TEATRET 60 YEARS
Performances, films, seminars, workshops

The festival More Than Theatre is a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Odin Teatret organised in Warsaw (Poland) – a city, where Eugenio Barba started his theatre education. The festival is an occasion to become personally acquainted with the history and the practice of one of the most experienced theatre groups in Europe, during meetings and workshops led by Odin Teatret’s director and actors. It will be also a chance to see the latest premiere of the group – Hamlet’s Clouds.

The programme of practical workshops and reflective seminars covers the most important issues in the work of the group, among others: actor/dancer’s training and dramaturgy, theatre anthropology, social engagement of the theatre.

October 2, Thursday

4 – 6.30 pm – film screenings:
The Art of the Impossible by Elsa Kvamme, The Conquest of Difference by Exe Christoffersen

7 pm – The Echo of Silence – work presentation by Julia Varley, directed by Eugenio Barba


October 3, Friday

10-11 am – The Thrilling Violinists – a show for children and grandparents, actors: Antonia Cioază, Jakob Nielsen
11 am – 1 pm – actor training with Antonia Cioază, Jakob Nielsen

4 – 6 pm
seminar with Eugenio Barba „Different dramaturgies – on the creative process at Odin Teatret” and screening of the film THE CHRONIC LIFE by Chiara Crupi

7 pm – performance HAMLET’S CLOUDS*

Seminar „Theatre of reciprocity – Odin Teatret and communities”: a conversation with artists and a screening of the film The Country Where Trees Fly by Davide Barletti and Jacopo Quadri

October 5, Sunday

10-12 am
seminar with Julia Varley „Women in theatre collectives – about The Magdalena Project” and screening of the film Women in Action by Chiara Crupi

12.15-2 pm
seminar with Eugenio Barba and prof. Leszek Kolankiewicz „The Presence of the Performer – on Theatre Anthropology” and a screening of film documentation

2 pm – farewell

The festival is also a chance to explore Warsaw, a capital city of Poland and of the Masovian Voivodeship. It is a very diverse and dynamic metropolis, where historical buildings sit side by side with modern architecture and green areas. Warsaw, located on the two banks of the Vistula River, is also well known as an important cultural centre, with wide range of museums, art galleries and theatres.

Organisational details:

The participation fee: 350 Euro

The fee covers: workshops, seminars, work presentation, family performance. Each participant is also guaranteed entry to one performance of HAMLET’S CLOUDS. The organizers are offering to help find accommodation.

Latest confirmation will be given: 4th of August
Deadline for payment: 24th of August

The participants are required to arrive at The Mazovia Institute of Culture (Elektoralna Street, Warsaw) no later than 9.30 am on 2nd October and leave no earlier than 2.30 pm on 5th October.
